GLEN ALLEN, VA — The Virginia Saints had their first ministry event of 2009 Saturday, July 25, at Coffeewood Correctional Facility in Orange, VA. Coffeewood holds about 1200 men. The Saints played an All-Star team on Side "B" first. Despite losing the game 9-5, the team had a fantastic opportunity to speak to about 175 men and share a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jeff L. did the introduction, Dave W. gave his testimony, and Tom H. brought the message.
The Saints were able to play a few extra innings before moving to the "A" side of the complex to play against another team of All-Stars. The game was much closer, but in the end the Saints came up short, 12-9. Jeff L. once again did the introduction, Mike S. shared his testimony, and Chris/Steve C. brought the message to about 150 men.
While victory on the field was not found, combined there were 85 decision cards received with 20 men accepting Christ as their personal Savior.
1 Corinthians 1:21 states "it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe". Said Tom H., "I am always amazed that God uses something like a group of men playing softball and sharing our faith, to add 20 more souls to Heaven!"
