Virginia Saints Win Two, Save Five at White Post

GLEN ALLEN, VA — In the 2010 Virginia Saints Opening Day on May 15, the team had no problems with the two All-Star teams from White Post. The Saints opened up the offense during the first game with solid hitting and several long balls, winning 42-2. The second game was a little more defensive with a final score of 23-7. Ryan I. had two, and Stephen S. one, impressive over the building "in the front yard" monster blasts.
During the first game, the White Post pitcher - Shawn - was hit in the knee with a line drive. Fortunately he was not hurt seriously, but he will be sore for some time. A couple of the Saints had a chance to pray with him after the game and confirmed he was a fellow Christian. Remember him in your prayers as he heals and continues his Christian walk.
About 30 men joined us for the message of Good News. Cliff G. introduced the Saints Ministry and why we play prison softball. Chris C. brought his testimony and Tom H. brought the message on John 14:1-6. We had an amazing opportunity to share with the men the message of Jesus Christ, then to eat lunch (sloppy joes and tater tots!) with the men and continue the conversations about Christ. All told, 5 men received Jesus as their personal Savior.
White Post Diversion Unit is the last prison facility these men go to before leaving the Prison System. Many of the men had weeks or days left before "getting out". This offered a unique situation for the Saints to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with these men just before they rejoin their families and society.
The next Virginia Saints event is Saturday, June 5, at Indian Creek Correctional Center.
