GLEN ALLEN, VA — As the temperature approached triple digits, the Saints entered Coffeewood Correctional Center on Saturday, June 19. There were mixed feelings entering the "B" side of the facility as the team was greeted by several men familiar from prior visits. It was good to see them again but sad that these men have been there for multiple Saints visits and are still incarcerated. Due to time constraints, we only had time for one game on Side B. It was a slow game that ended after 6 innings with the Saints losing by 2 runs, 8-6. Following the game, we had the opportunity to share with the men the Good News of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection! About 80 men stayed to hear the intro by Cliff G., testimony of Joaquin M., and message from Kevin S.
Following the message, we walked over to the "A" side and immediately Jeff L. gave the intro, Joaquin M. his testimony, and Chris C. gave the message. There were about 85 men that listened to the message then stayed for the game. The second game only made it to the third inning when time was up, with the Saints behind 6-4.
Altogether, we were able to play in front of about 220 men with 165 staying to hear the Salvation message. Nine men accepted Christ as their Personal Savior. Four men said they were not yet ready to accept Christ but they wanted additional information. Please pray for these men to make a decision. There were also 54 men that were Christians and were recommitting their lives to Christ.
Please pray for Stan, Gary, Gator, Skeeter, and Koran. Each of them made an impression on the Saints with their personal stories.
The Saints will next be in action on Saturday, July 24 at James River and Deep Meadow Correctional Centers. Please keep the team and the ministry in your prayers.
